20 US Congregations take a Leadership Role on Behalf of Women and Girls

Twenty U.S. congregations have responded to the appeal of the International Women’s Convocation to set aside one Sunday in March to honor International Women’s Day. The focus is to learn about, celebrate and support the progress that our sisters and brothers in faith have made for women’s rights and empowerment worldwide.

Our commitment to weaving partnerships to enrich women’s lives has resulted in many stories of success since we came into being as an organization following the First International Convocation of UU Women in 2009. Whether impacting women in Mutundwe, Uganda, Khasi Hills, India, or Unitarian * Universalist Filipinas or Transylvanians, there are countless stories of tangible gains, reinforcing the understanding that the work we do for women’s empowerment is critical.

Reaching out to congregations to support us in this endeavor is a fine example of cooperation and coming together as a global UU community. We thank the following congregations for their invaluable support:

UU Fellowship of Fayetteville, AR

UU Church of Berkeley, CA

Montevista UU Congregation, Montclair, CA

The Unitarian Society, East Brunswick, NJ

The UU Church in Cherry Hill, NJ
